Sport plays a central role in the school's mission to support and nurture individual pupils with diverse needs. We believe sport develops pupils' confidence and resilience through physical, technical and mental stimulus, and exposure to teamwork and leadership opportunities.
At the core of our Games Programme is a team-sports ethos, promoting physical health and social interaction, and providing every pupil with the opportunity to represent the school. Pupils' Games choices progress from controlled choice - in which every pupil engages in a major sport while sampling other sports and activities - to a choice of over 30 sports and activities in more senior years. This is an unrivalled offer, delivered by enthusiastic and skilled tutors and coaches.
Over the last four years we have developed the Millfield Institute of Sport and Wellbeing which supports pupils in everything from their athletic to emotional development. The Institute provides provision across nutrition, physiotherapy, performance analysis and strength and conditioning.
Many of our pupils excel at sport - Millfield is home to nearly 50 international representatives at any one time and had more Olympic representatives in London 2012 than any other school. We are very proud of our record as a preeminent school for sport.
