Millfield Netball encourages pupils of all ages and abilities to experience, enjoy and compete in netball. Twelve teams operate in total, so there are plenty of opportunities for players to compete against schools, colleges, universities and clubs.
Netball for Years 9-10 runs as a games option during the spring term, and they can access netball in the autumn term as a club; squad sessions are also available. Year 11 and Sixth Form girls can choose to play netball during both terms. Year 10 pupils can request to play netball for both terms if they are in the performance pathway.
Millfield has strong links with a number of Superleague franchises with athletes playing at U17, U19 and U21 NPL level and even at Superleague. Millfield is home to one of the Team Bath futures Hubs which provides weekly court and strength and conditioning sessions for athletes aspiring to progress within the franchise. What our Netball team say about the programme at Millfield:
“Having moved from Switzerland, I have experienced so many more opportunities at Millfield which have taken me from Regionals to Nationals, as well as now being a part of the Team Bath setup. Netball at Millfield is not just about developing my skills as a player, but also making strong friendships on and off the court. It has helped me with decision making, developed my time management skills and given me a sense of belonging. I have received so much support from my coach and the strength and conditioning team. There is something very special about wearing the Millfield dress and you feel proud to represent Millfield every time you walk out on court.” - Jemima
“Netball at Millfield is so much more than customized hoodies, ice packs and the best team teas! Here, netball is played at a high level, requiring skill, speed and strength. It takes commitment, responsibility and multi-tasking. What I have loved about Millfield Netball is the unique bond and that the teams work together as a tight unit and that is something I will truly miss. We have dedicated and experienced coaches who will support you, not just until you ‘get it right’ but until you no longer get it wrong. I am extremely grateful to have been a part of a team where the coaches celebrate your highs with you and also commiserate your lows and help you overcome adversity. Thank you Mrs Adamson for an amazing few years of netball first team.” - Hannah
